Holiday celebrations in Canada are well underway, with nine in ten Canadians planning to mark a special occasion this December. Christmas leads the way at 87 percent, while smaller groups will celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or other meaningful traditions. About one in ten won’t celebrate at all, but across the country, the season is still filled with warmth, activity, and plenty of festive spirit.

When it comes to decorating, we’re all about the cozy vibes. Nearly 8 in 10 Canadians (79%) are sprucing up the inside of their homes, while 45% are braving the chill to make the outside sparkle.

Timing? That’s where things get interesting! Some eager elves start in early November (17%), while others wait until the last minute in late December (11%). Most of us fall somewhere in between—35% in late November and 37% in early December. No matter when you start, it’s clear: holiday cheer is alive and well across the country.

Results are very consistent across the country, as well as across demographic subgroups, showing that holiday celebrations are enjoyed by all ages, genders and economic status.

Results are from an online survey conducted in partnership between Narrative Research and the Logit Group. The survey was conducted between November 12 – 14, 2025 with 1,231 Canadians, 18 years of age or older from the Logit Group’s online Canadian Omnibus. Data were weighted based on the 2021 Census, by gender, age, and region to reflect actual population distribution.
